United States Considers increasing Military Presence in the Mediterranean

Amid conflicts in Israel, Gaza, Syria, Libya, and Egypt the US Military is considering increasing Navy and Ship presence in the Mediterranean. This increase will extend the stay of several ships recently deployed to the area, as well as station four ships in Spain and four off the coast of Israel. These ships will allow us to hedge attacks from Syria, Libya, and Iran as well as help us increase humanitarian and evacuation efforts in the face of increasing conflicts and uncertainty. Does this mean the US is entering into another war zone(s)  in which we might be unwelcome and potentially stuck for years? Is this a move we should make?
