We The People, the official website for the Obama administration has been the target with petitions for State secession. Actually there were more States then Texas and Louisiana but there is little doubt that all the states are “red”. None of the petitions mentioned the election but I suppose we can read between the lines. Some of the arguments are even convincing. This reminds me of a child who threatens to run away. The parents might allow the child to leave the house, but when they get down the dark scary street alone, the child inevitable turns around. I would love to see Texas on their own without the military protection of the federal government. Would it really be so bad to lose Texas? Maybe Mexico will invade, that would be one hell of a reality TV show.

Sounds like some of the U.S. states have something in common with the province of Quebec!
What healthcare will they have? What form of money? What form of government? What benefits would these states see/have if they leave the good ole USA and form their own country?
You know it would be tough with lots of questions and few answers. But, Mexico invaded Texas already an was defeated in detail at San Jacinto;Texas becameing a republic. Later when the US sent an invasion force to take Mexico city. It became entrapped and a rescue force of Texas Rangers was sent by the Republic to retrieve what was left of the US expeditionary force.The Red states comprise about 80% of the current military. Look at the last several elections there is a dangerous divide in this country between socialist leaning liberals and fiscal conservatives. It needs to be seriously addressed or we may find ourselves repeating a bloody civil war. Take it seriously because, poking fun or claiming a mandate exacerbates the problem.
I don’t think you really understand the point of my post. The idea that Texas would secede is absurd, just as the idea that Mexico and Texas would go to war is absurd. It was a “be careful what you wish for” commentary, nothing else.
Yet one only has to view the world at large to realize how lucky we are that we have internal peace– we HAVE had a civil war and massive insurrections in the past, one of the reasons New Deal was passed was to snatch out the rug from real threat of commies, read up on labor history, it was violent and real threat. If their is a civil war, no doubt who has the guns and military backing…but it will be an ugly, ugly shame. Who’d have though France, Spain, and Greece would have violent riots? That Bosnia would rip itself asunder? That your nice neighbor Hutu is now killing your children with a machete? This is scary stuff.
