The Constitution Is Alive and Well

From Social Workers Unite:

As Americans, we understand that the constitution was created as a “living document”…it has been amended repeatedly to become more inclusive of the persons who were originally excluded ( minorities and women, namely) and we are better for it. Concepts like ” equal protection under the law” in order to guard against the tyranny of the majority, are NOBLE concepts. NOBLE, not dangerous….NOBLE. We are a fairer and more just society because of this noble concept. As social workers, social advocates and social development practitioners, we must fight to ensure that our constitution remains a LIVING document, capable of growing and evolving, becoming even more inclusive. It’s the only way to ensure equality and justice for all.
