The course is based on a resource from the Massachusetts General Hospital Human Trafficking Initiative and Massachusetts Medical Society called “Human Trafficking: Guidebook on Identification, Assessment, and Response in the Health Care Setting” and also includes an interactive “Quick Reference Guide” that can be accessed from a mobile device and saved in order to provide clinicians the information in a health care setting.
CHI is committed to violence prevention and has addressed violence in their campaign – United Against Violence, which recognizes that violence must be addressed with a multi-disciplinary approach. CHI believes that health care providers have a special role in identifying and responding to victims of human trafficking, a form of modern day slavery in which violence is present in many ways. If you or someone you know is a health care provider and would like to learn how to identify and respond to a victim of human trafficking, please visit the CHI’s website http://www.catholichealthinitiatives.org and click the tab Living Our Mission. Then select Advocacy from the drop down menu and on the left hand side, click Violence Prevention. Then again on the left click on Human Trafficking and the Role of the Health Care Provider. This page has a number of resources that support CHI’s clinical education modules which supply health care providers with additional information, materials and tools for practice.
