At Least 70,000 in France Protest Against Gay and Lesbian Rights

The United States isn’t the only country struggling to offer more rights to Gay and Lesbian individuals. The French socialist government has recently approved a bill that would allow gay and lesbian couples to marry and adopt children, a bill which would be up for debate come January.  In a backlash, over 70,000 individuals have been protesting against these measures with some of the most notable protests occurring yesterday. This is a heated issue everywhere, posing it as a global political factor in my mind.

What do you think a government’s role should be in securing citizen rights?
