With the holiday season fast approaching (one week until Thanksgiving? I must have missed something…) tempers and emotions are likely on edge. We have so much to attend to during the holidays while still maintaining our normal schedules, so of course it can be a stressful time. But, while our emotions are a response to a situation, comment, or individual we still have control over them.

This helpful article from the Huffington Post, written by a Clinical Social Worker, discusses five important tips for maintaining that control in an exchange that could otherwise drive your emotions over the edge. As the article discusses “The Dalai Lama is quoted as saying: “Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace.”” and this is the mindset from which the tips flow. It is well worth a read if you are in need of re-anchoring your emotions and preparing yourself for the holiday season.
